With the onset of Sprint/Nextel as the title sponsor for auto racing’s preeminent circuit, NASCAR sought to align itself with various entities that could help develop strong, family-friendly, youth-related marketing and licensing initiatives that were true to its roots. And with Starbridge’s track-record as a leading creative entity in the field of sports-related animation and intellectual property content, NASCAR signed a multi-year publishing deal with Starbridge to create licensed books under the “NASCAR Comics” line. From a fan-interactive promotional balloting process to help select the first comic publication’s lead characters at Daytona in 2007 to the development of trading cards, mini comic books, live action characters, and six issues of “NASCAR Heroes” in major retailers across the country, NASCAR Comics keep zooming along.
